Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS)

Union Station’s NASA Earth Day

Led over 250 students in a tree ring print activity at Union Station in Washington, D.C. and educated those that passed by the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) booth on what the polar-orbiting satellites do.

Interviewed STEM Engagement Lead Julie Hoover at the Lompoc Farmer’s Market in Lompoc, California as part of a virtual NASA Social event, in order to help promote the launch of the JPSS-2 (now named NOAA-21) satellite launch from Vandenberg Space Force Base and relation between the satellites and JPSS Education recipe cards.

Rockville Science Day

Interacted with the public at Rockville Science Day in Montgomery County, Maryland to educate the public on JPSS satellites and encourage participation In environmentally conscious hands-on activities, like a “throw and grow.”

Maryland Day

Over 700 people visited the JPSS booth to collect educational material, and collaborated on a giant JPSS coloring sheet.

Impact

 Throughout these four events, over 1,870 individuals were engaged in JPSS satellite related activities and educated on the science behind the satellites. Amplified the reach of JPSS knowledge through event promotion on social media, increasing awareness of JPSS intrigued audiences.
